200 FB Likes!

Thanks to everyone who has stopped by to "like" my facebook page.  Here's a fun review file as a Thank you offering!  Don't Bug Me is a review game I created last year. Use it with your own questions.  Divide into teams.  After students answer correctly, let them squish a bug to find out how many points they earned.  Keep track of team points and offer the winners some "BUG JUICE" (juice boxes) as a reward.  Hope you don't mind a little bug guts. (lol)  What can I say, I teach in an elementary science lab and it's almost summer. I may be going a little crazy scientist these days.
Thanks again if you are following me on facebook.  If you aren't already a follower, why not stop over and click the like button.  If you like this file, I'd love to hear from you.  Leave me a comment or better yet, recommend my file to all your followers.  It won't "BUG ME".

The Skype Game

If you're looking for a fun way to spend some time and still sneak in a little learning before the end of the year, you may want to consider signing up for the Skype Game.  I discovered this in the computer technology community on Edmodo.  How to Play:  Follow the link and sign up for a time.  Decide on the best 5 questions you could ask the other students that would help you identify what state they live in.  Wait for the class to call you or you call them on Skype depending on your placement in the spreadsheet as class 1 or class 2.  Now ask the questions and answer the questions of the other class to see who can guess the state.
Sound like fun?  Sign up for more than 1 and play with multiple classes.  Happy Skyping!

Facebook Mega Contest! Tomorrow is the BIG day!

Tomorrow is the big day for our Facebook Mega Contest!

Flubaroo

Have you tried Google Docs with your students?  I have and they are a great way to increase collaboration along with improving students' technology skills.  How about the forms feature?  That is hands down one of my favorites.  I love being able to pose questions to students and collect all their answers in a single spreadsheet.  It is super flexible too.  We can visit the computer lab and every student can log in to the form at the same time to enter their answers.  I can send students to computers in the classroom as small groups or one by one.  If someone is absent, they can complete it when they return.  Students who have access to the Internet outside of school can easily access it as homework or extra credit.  There doesn't seem to be an end to the many ways it can be used.  Up until today, I've been creating my own formulas for grading forms that are class assignments, quizzes, tests, etc.  Today all that is about to change because I have found Flubaroo.

The video tutorial makes this a simple add-on and I cannot wait to try it out with  my students!  If you already use Google Forms, you are going to want this add-on.  If you haven't tried Google Forms yet, you really should and when you do make sure to include Flubaroo!  Yet another techie tool that simplifies the tasks of teaching!

If you already use Flubaroo, I'd love for you to share your experiences below.
If you decide to try it, please leave me a comment below.  I'd love to hear how others are using it.

My LiveBinder

I started this awhile ago and never did much with it.  Lately I've been working on it a little bit more and thought it might be worth sharing.  This binder is a compilation of some of my favorite websites for teaching science.  BTW -- livebinder is a pretty cool and FREE tool.
